How will Nvidia react to the AMD 6000 series launch?

How do you think Nvidia will react to today's launch by AMD? It was an utter curb-stomp, wasn't it?

Off the top of my head:

Immediate price reductions - the 3090 will become $999
Ti / Super versions of GPUs with 16+ GB RAM for the same price and price reductions on existing low-VRAM cards.

Longer term:

Accelerate Hopper development, with a launch next year.

I suspect it might try to do some type of GeForce Partner Program again - either paying/bribing Microsoft or some counter-agreement with Intel to accelerate Intel - Nvidia performance.

GPUs with double the VRAM were leaked long ago; perhaps they'll be moved forward?

The more important aspect actually is that AMD did this using less power consumed, what the 3090 uses nearly 400 watts?

Really? I think that most people don't really care. I think they'd only really care if they had to buy a new PSU.

With lower power consumption AMD have the opportunity to launch an even bigger card than the 6900XT using 96 or 100 compute units and even fit it with an AIO cooler making it smaller and faster than a 3090, NVidia may be a bit concerned.

Until they do I still think it doesn't matter. If your GPU consumes 400W and you have an 850W PSU, you can still just plug it in and go. Now if you only have a 500W PSU, you'll have to buy a new PSU and that's additional expense so you'll pause.

Given the lack of FE cards it would make sense if they were stockpiling before a launch. A 3080 Ti / Super would be a decent upgrade for 2080 Ti owners like me. The price is likely to be $999 or less, to compete with the RX 6900.

Sigh whats the point, if they say the 3090 is not a gaming card then they need to release something that's a lot faster than the 3080

That's not possible right now: you need exotic cooling solutions to get more out of the Ampere GPU. It might happen with a switch to 7 nm - the experts here can surely chime in - but that will take time and IMHO it's more likely they'll be fast-tracking Hopper. I hope Nvidia will be spurred by the competition. If Hopper turns out to be just a 7nm refresh of Ampere then I will be sorely disappointed.
