How will X1900 crossfire perform on..

If You Have a good enough power supply etc.. for the Jump in grapics performance You will get for the £250 will keep You smiling for a good while.. :D

Your Cpu will hold the System back, but a Conroe at 3.3ghz was holding back a 1950xtx Crossfire system I was working on today. A pair of 1900's should last for a good while (Graphics wise)

Go for It.. ;)

Your scores are higher than mine, I have an FX-55/X1900XT-X (512meg) (05.>10,780, 06>5,200

Maybe it's the "X2" that makes the difference

my x2 at 2.6 is faster than your fx-55 afaik, this thing really flies at 2.6. my score is better than yours in 06 because of the dual core usage but is also faster than yours in 05 because my chip is faster?

things that could affect this:

ram timmings
drivers
amount of ram
general tweaking and not to mention dual core vs single.

1680 x 1050 is only a limit if you don't want to run with max AA and AF which putting crossfire in allows you to do. In GTR2 for instance I could run with 14xaa 16xaf HQ and Adaptive AA (I think thats the right one for ATI's transparancy equiv) and still get 150+ fps.

Something that no-one appears to have picked up on is that a X2 3800 doesnt run at 2.6Ghz.
It runs at 2.0Ghz.

Don't think the 3800 will be faster than my FX-55 TBH - will it? (x2 that is;) In other words, a "one-on-one" games test should have me running better frames in Fear, far cry, BF2 etc yes? - even though your (tom) score is higher than mine). I may upgrade to FX-60 in the future, but read than these are exaclty (More or less) the same speed as FX-55's - when running single programs 2.6 I understand.

This all said, at my native res on my Viewsonic VX912 (19" 1280x960/1024) All my game run very fine, UT2K3/4 are eaten for breakfast. Fear is a little tougher - esp with shadows, COD2 very smooth, Farcry flies, but games like Colin mcrae, Toca 3 etc, do 150+ with 8AA/16AF etc.. :)

That's most probably due to the fact we have all assumed its overclocked?

;) OcUk detectives at it again :D , as for the master ive decided not to get one as i may go for a r600 depending how much it is and how it performs etc or may get a 1950 master card when prices come down a bit as ive realised everything is flying at the moment.

Maybe.
But i think most people have probably forgotten that, and think that its 'just' a 3800. When its probably nearer to 4800 in real world speeds.
Which is an entirely different kettle of fish in regards to what people are recomending.
