How will your team line-up now?

Now the window is shut, how do people think their team's first 11 will shape up?

Interesting to see how Spurs (and my opinions of players) have changed in 2 years:

Same thread 2008/09

Same thread 2009/10

Van Der Vaart has just been confirmed as arguably the bargain capture of the window, eclipsing last seasons £2.5m signing of Kranjcar.

We're seeing 4-4-2 being used less and less with 4-5-1 being favoured, I still think Spurs will line-up 4-4-2 for most games. Though they have the resources to play 4-5-1, time will tell if it gets used in difficult away games!

My first 11:

4-4-2

----------------Gomes------------------
Corluka--Dawson--King/Gallas--Bale
Lennon--Huddlestone--VDV---Modric
---------Defoe-----Crouch-----------

4-5-1

----------------Gomes------------------
Corluka--Dawson--King/Gallas--Ekotto
---------------Huddlestone------------
Lennon---VDV--------Modric-------Bale
-------------Crouch/Defoe-------------

Leeds will likely line up against weaker teams with a 4-3-3:

Kasper

Connolly Collins Naylor Bessone

Howson Kilkenny Johnson

Sam Becchio Watt

Against stronger teams we'll go 4-4-2:

Kasper

Connolly Collins Naylor Bessone

Sam Kilkenny Howson Johnson

Becchio Watt

Kisnorbo is easily our best centre half though, and Paynter will push Becchio with Snodgrass pushing Sam/Watt for a start. He's been our most consistent player for 2 seasons. Gradel will feature too. Not seen much of Clayton yet and we've only just signed McCormack.

If everyone fit I've no idea who Grayson prefers. Good, strong Championship squad though.

Personally I would think Van Der Vaart too lightweight to play centre-midfield in the big games but he'd be great in the hole in front of two bigger central midfielders. He's a great option to have for Modric as either can play on the left too.

I like how you suggest King can shake off his sicknote rep in the first thread :P

People said Modric would be too light weight and he proved them wrong, I didn't think VDV was that light weight when I've seen him.

He did play 29 games that season. :p

Ideally

------------Berbatov*-----------------

-------------Rooney------------------

Giggs*--Fletcher*--Scholes*--Valencia

Evra------Vidic---Ferdinand*---Evans*

--------------VDS--------------------

Giggs/Nani
Fletcher/Carrick/Anderson
Scholes/Carrick/Anderson
Ferdinand/Evans
Evans/Fabio/Rafael
Berbatov/Hernandez

-------------------Reina-------------------

Johnson--Carragher-Agger/Skrtel--Konchesky

--------------Meireles-Gerrard--------------

--------Kuyt------Cole-----Jovanovic-------

-------------------Torres-------------------

That team should be good enough for a top 6 finish but if we continue down the path of counter attacking football I think we'll end up behind Everton and Villa in 8th.

fingers crossed, once people are back to full fitness (Stephen Hunt, wont include Kightly as he was left out of the 25for now)

--------------Hahnemann----------------
Zubar----Berra----Craddock/Mouyokolo---Van Damme
Jarvis--Henry/Mancienne--Gueridora/Jones---Hunt
---------Fletcher/Doyle-----Ebanks-Blake-----------

yes, there are a couple of places there which i am not entirely sure about, but I do hope that Ebanks-Blake gets a decent run. Mouyokolo is likely to be Craddocks long term replacement, but I would have thought we would see him playing before the end of the year in his place.

--------------Almunia------------------
Sagna--Koscielny--Vermaelen--Clichy
---------------Song------------
Walcott---Fabregas------Diaby-----Arshavin
-------------Chamakh------------

That's what I reckon at the moment if it was 4-5-1, or 4-1-4-1 whatever you want to call it, but I think most of the time we'll be playing 4-3-3 with the usual back four, Song just slightly behind the midfield with Fabregas and Diaby in the midfield, followed by the front three of Arshavin, Chamakh and Walcott. We really need our injured players back, van Persie is a big blow to us with Bendtner out too, and Ramsey coming back will be a big boost as well. I don't see Denilson playing that much and I personally prefer Rosicky where Arshavin plays instead of putting him where Diaby is, when he comes on as a sub that is.

Balotelli on the left? That's a bit of a waste isn't it?

As for us, I'm going to nick Jakeke's post from last year and modify it, because I doubt it will change much:

Almoonia

Sagna - Koscielny/Squilacci - Tommy V - Gael

Cesc - Song - Rosicky/Nasri

Walcott - Chamakh/RvP - Arsh
The ones with two entries will obviously alternate due to inevitable Arsenal crock-ness.

Well he is a striker and pretty fast but im pretty sure he played in a 4-3-3 with Ibra and Quaresma for a while then a similar one with Milito when he did play...i hope we do play like that though as Tevez is just isolated by himself in a 451 as he isnt a striker he drops off and collects the ball but has no one to pass to so with the 433 he can feed Silva and Balotelli

That's pretty much bang on, it's a shame about Kightly, he's a cracking player when fully fit, also a shame about Keogh going to Cardiff, I don't think we'll see him in a Wolves shirt again.

Arsenal will no doubt play Theo and Diaby heavily, when neither should be anything but emergency backup, who knows what he'll do, once/if people come back from injury will Wenger finally drop Diaby for Nasri or Rosicky, where will bendtner RVP and Chamakh play when all three are fit, Vela probably has no chance this season again unless Rosicky, Nasri and Arshavin are injured.

Fingers crossed it will be good enough to push for fourth. Should be good for top six in my opinion.

That looks like being the plan for now but I wouldn't be surprised if we end up seeing Gerrard back behind Torres with Cole on the left and Poulsen coming in.

And not that it's likely to happen but I'd have Maxi in the side ahead of Jovanovic or Kuyt.

Probably:

-------------------Almunia-------------------

Sagna--Vermaelen----Kosielney---Clichy------

------------------Song----------------------

-----------Diaby---------Cesc---------------

---Walcott-----RvP/Chamakh-----Arshavin---

I would prefer if we played gibbs instead of clichy and since arshavin is a lazy POS I would play Vela on the left. I would also prefer playing with rosicky instead of diaby as he slows us down imo.
