How would I get a GPU support list?

Hi guys,

Lately, I was thinking about upgrading my graphics card, however I can't find much information about my Motherboard.

It was a full build purchased from OcUK a couple of years ago.

I can only see a CPU support list, is their any other way of finding out if a certain graphics card would support it as I was thinking about getting a 4850.

Its a G31 chipset and supports 1 PCIe x16 card, so you won't have any motherboard compatibility problems with any modern PCIe graphics card.

However, the PSU is only 300W and the case looks a bit small (probably best to measure it for GPU length) so these will be the factors that limit what GPU you can get.

I think the case size is OK as I've had a 4870 in here before. The PSU is an issue though, I remember my old Corsair 500W busted on me so now I'm using a really cheap thing.

Could you please recommend me PSU that'd be good enough? Would like the cheapest one as I'm on a budget.

On an unrelated note, I think the inbuilt soundcard on the motherboard is starting to go.

I've tried various sets of speakers, however, sound will only work through the Left speaker. Would this indicate that the onboard sound is naffed?

Aye, this is pretty much the cheapest quality PSU that you can get at the minute (though the OCZ StealthXtreme 400W is a good bit of kit, but currently unavailable on OCUK). I wouldn't spend much less that this as you are then into Winpower, Jeantech (eg elcrapo territory). The Corsair is £40, good quality and comes with a 3 year warranty - can't say fairer than that.

This sounds a bit worrying. You may want to check its not a dodgey connection (is there a front audio connection to try out?) and that the software is properly configured. If it is bust, then you may want to consider something like a PCI sound card(assuming there is enough room on the board for a 4850 and a PCI sound card - may need to use a PCIe x1 one).

I've had a good look just and their is no loose connections on the Audio block.

I don't actually have any sound drivers installed for Windows 7 as Asus didn't actually supply any, but the sound worked without the drivers so I'm not sure if that could be a problem.

I also took a pic of my junk PSU. I don't know anything about the specs, but is it really junk? To be honest it's been running my 3870 fine so far on WoW
