hi, after trying to make an ethernet cable i decided to go out and buy one, so ive bought a cat 6 cable.
ive read that a cat 6 cable has a higher transfer rate than standard cat 5 but how can i test it?

connected to sky router.

ahh that i dont know!!
my motherboard is gigabite but wouldnt have a clue what the router would be.
im on 16mb sky broadband.
ok silly question how would i tell if 100 or gb?

The router's model number would've been useful, but all of the routers Sky give out only do 100Mbps on the switch ports. You've gained jiggly squat.

Broken cable?

had to move router to another room but in doing so had to make longer cable, but not matter how many times I tried to make the connection failed think it might have been the cheap tool I bought!!! but now have new cat 6 cable.

just checked properties and yes its only 100mb
