How would this compare?

The 6800Ultra in my son's PC has gone and died

After just spending nearly £400 on an 8800GTX, my wife isn't too chuffed at having to spend more on, as she calls them, "BLOODY COMPUTERS!"

I'm trying to get them something that will be as close to the performance of the 6800Ultra without spending a fortune, which means AGP would be ideal so no new mobo is required.

I've been looking at the 7600GT and I can get one for about £80. How do you think this would compare to the 6800Ultra?

I'd agree, the 7600 GT is perhaps even slightly faster. If you want to go faster still, you have the x1950 Pro at around a ton, and GeCube do a x1950XT on AGP too. Have a look at the buyers guide sticky.

There's also a 7900GS AGP version but the 1950Pro would probably edge it out performance wise.

Lots of good AGP deals out there if you look around. Should be able to keep the price at £100 or less and get a very decent card.
