How would you diagnose this?

PC has been working great until recently when I started to notice dancing pixels in darker backgrounds. Been getting worse but I don't see any issues in games, crashing or anything. I had started to get the screen turning off for a second and coming back again during games and thought it just couldn't handle 4K but it does this on the desktop at 1080p.

The card is an MSI 1070 in an MSI z97i Gaming AC (mITX) connected to a Sony 65XF9005.

What I would try is this

- change display cable
- try a different output on the card and tv (if possible)
- re seat the gpu and power cables for the card and psu if it's a modular one.
Make sure it's dust free and fans moving freely etc.
- try a different pcie slot on the motherboard )if you have one)
- try the card in another pc (again, if you have one)

Just some basic checks and even try another monitor

Yea I have tested the HDMI cable and different ports on the TV. The card only has 1 HDMI port so I would need an adaptor to try other ports. I will try re-seating the card and try it in another machine. I just moved half way up the country so friends close by with whom to troubleshoot with are non existent. I will do what I can though. Thanks :)

Edit: Looked back over the eBay listing and the card is still in warranty. Anyone have experience of MSI RMA? If the eBay seller won't help in the process, could I RMA with MSI direct? I doubt it but worth trying.

For anyone interested the problem was down to "motherboard flex". I took the case off (Corsair 250d) and noticed the motherboard around the back of the pci-e slot was flexing under pressure of the graphics card with the top of the case on. This was due to the power connectors sitting proud. So simply removing the top of the case has resolved my issue. I'll be sure to check these thing more thoroughly in future :)
