how would you go about achieving this website?

I have an idea about a website were users can add locations to a map of something they have found (probably using google map) using there phones gps for example.

I would need a webpage of course. (I can do this)

some kind of cms to run the website. (I can do this)

a form or button to grab the location of the user. (need to learn this)

a database to store the above info. (need to learn this)

a way to display the found item. (had a very quick look over the google map api)

does anyone know of similar sounding websites that do this?

I am not looking to reinvent anything, just thinking of a way to help people find a certain item that will be added to the site.

It is not Geocaching, but the principal is probably the same.

Will take a look into that as it looks useful.

thanks for the links. will take a look, although looking at all these API's seems a little daunting, bringing them altogether to work.
