Hi OcUK programming guru's
I have absolutely no programming experience what so ever...but end goal - building a media center type application that would actually work as I have found that media Center isn't meeting our needs in the home. This is purely for my own use, and would like some advice.
This is a pretty big task, and I have no idea how long it would take or where to start, so I guess I will put my various thoughts down, and hopefully you will be able to point me in the right direction, with the end product in mind.
First things first what languages would you need to learn in order to do so?
Guessing it would need:
GUI
EPG
Ability to pull information from data sources
Ability to record
Support various formats
Scan for channels
The option to choose which channels to import
The ability to set up favourites
I would like to learn, and I'm not very good at learning without actually having a goal...so I guess this could be an interesting project...
or be like the top gear crew - ambitious but rubbish.
