myself and a friend have been asked to comment on and alter this site to bring it more up to date.

http://www.thefairwayshotel.co.uk/

Now, its a table layout and the site is generated with MS FP but there is CSS, so really, its original designer was a complete hasher!

I'm just looking for creative ideas to improve it

Thanks

Get rid of those crazy fonts to start with. They are inconsistent and they look like they have been squashed horizontally too. The QTVR stuff could have a flash alternative or a simply images if either flash or quicktime are unavailiable.

using firefox here and i can't view them so deifnelty worth doing this ^^^

many things i can suggest about the site but key points are:
  1. layout, or its lack of. the image, text, navigation menu are all just plunked there
  2. the address and phone number at the top isn't the easiest to read as its white on whatever colour that is meaning it's easily ignored and might aswell not be there.
  3. same as said above the main content text is horrible, looks squished and changes from being CAPS LOCKS cream, to even bigger CAPS LOCKS black, to fancy creamy to bigger fancy cream.
  4. it's easy to ignore most parts of the site as it's so ugly and badly laid out which obvioulsy isn't good for the company the site is made for.
  5. the contact form can be sent without anything being input and there is no confirmation that i just sent the message other then return to homepage.[edit] i lie there is a thankyou message after the message is sent but its not in the same place as the contact form which meant i missed it
thats about al i can quickly see for now
again i lie another point is afaik there is no link back to home page other then b clicking the logo which is very bad design, first time i wanted to go back to the home page i clicked back many times to get back there.
