How would you position a Z-5500 sub?

I might be buying the Logitech Z-5500 soon for use with my consoles and DVD-RW. Apparently the sub has to be at least 60 cm away from other electronics as it will damage them otherwise (how much chance does it have of actually doing that?). So I'm pretty stumped as to where I'd put the thing.

Here is a 360 degree of my room (first 3 photos are most important):

If I put the new sub where my current sub is then it will interfere with the DVD-RW and massage chair. What do you think of putting the sub in the space below where my current amp is (though it would still be less than 30cm away from DVD-RW)? There is also a space between the two cabinets (shown in the 1st and 2nd photo).

If this doesn't work out, then can anyone recommend an alternative option for less than £200?

that damage warning is just a precaution. it can safely be ignored but its just there...you know.

anyway. it would be fine where your current sub is. thats a pretty good position anyway. but for best results, put the sub where you are going to be sitting most of the time. play some music and crawl around the edges of the room. where ever the sub sounds best, that's where you place the subwoofer. see how you get on:)

oh, aditionally, dont put the sub inside a unit (such as under the amp as you suggested). it wont sound very good and will cause everything inside the unit to rattle lol

Oh I see, ok.

I'm also wondering about this picture:

I assume the 'optical' socket is being covered by some sort of plug that can be remove right?

You can remove the plastic thingy it's a dust cover, it just comes out and reveals a nice hole you can throw the thingy away unless you collect plastic or something.

I would put the sub under/beside the TV set, don't keep it too close to hard disks, discs should be fine though as long as your movie libraries sitting ontop of it.

My PS2 sits 19 inches above my Z-5500 sub and the computer with 5 hard disks is about <2 feet to the right of it, no problems here.

For <£200, you wont get anything better for multimedia. It's a good set, enjoy watching movies on it. :)

My sub is sitting inbetween the TV and right speaker but it's on the floor.

Is there anything I can use to angle the speakers. If not, the rear ones (to be hanged above my sofa) will just be facing the opposite wall.

Yes you can hang them on your wall, but they don't tilt so you can't angle 'em. You can get stands for them or mount them onto a plate and angle that.

I have mine pointing straight. Work great.
