How would you rank monitor manufacturers?

Granted that many of them use the same panels, but how would you rank the various big name monitor manufacturers?

I'd put Asus, Acer, and AOC above the Chinese no-name manufacturers, but bottom of the big names. Then the likes of Benq and Samsung. Above them I'd put Dell, HP, and Iiyama, and above those - at the top - the like of Eizo. How would you rank them?

numbered lists are useful and easier to read.. ;-)

I pretty much agree with you. About 10 years ago I use to have an NEC monitor. The colour accuracy of that panel was amazing. I bought a fast benq 120hz and whilst it solved my refresh problem in bfbc2, it looked terrible. My dad has the NEC now and I'm still blown away with how nice it is.

10 years before that I had an Iiyama and they were amazing, no idea about now.

I just moved from the Benq 2410 to the pg279q. Early days (less than 48hrs) but so far it is phenomenal.

Pretty much as you've listed.

I do wonder why Iiyama are no longer rated - I had a lovely 17" CRT off them and they used to have such a great rep.

Also amazes me that Dell & HP do such a good job with their monitors when their PCs fair so poorly.

Kind of tough to rank them as there are a lot of different factors

-Dell (Not without some issues but usually great build quality, lower incident of quality control issues, etc. and generally good service at least for the higher end lines)
-HP (Usually just do what they say on the tin little drama)
-Eizo (they do some really good stuff professionally but in the consumer market its not without some caveats)
-Samsung (though I find it hard to rate them as highly these days as much as I used to - some of the older stuff like the 2233RZ were great)
-LG
-BenQ (not a fan of their out the box colour settings, etc. at all - far too often overly saturated and vibrant in a gaudy fashion and often hard to tweak to something more natural)
-AOC (would rank higher but things like OSD/firmware glitches gone unresolved for years)
-Iiyama
-Viewsonic
-Stuff like Fujitsu, NEC and Hanns-G (some of them can have very good models but overall its more varied - probably deserve to be ranked higher in some cases but I don't have enough experience with them)
-Acer (Too hit and miss in every aspect to rank higher)
-Generic far eastern brands
-Asus (Quality control poor, customer service/RMA poor, ROG, etc. lines generally overpriced tat with lowest bidder parts especially accessories - sometimes push the boat out features/spec wise but often with a lot of issues)

Although the pg279q is criminally over priced. I think I've got a great sample. Ips glow is very light and even all over. Just a touch of light bleed at the top right and the minorist down the left.

Have to have a complete black screen to notice and be in the dark with brightness above 20. I have it as 16 (120cd m2).

Build quality seems pretty good. But not as robust as one would like for 750 quid.

Might change your mind if you opened it up :s assuming its like the PG278Q a lot of stuff was just slapped in and held in place with silver tape, etc. the power adaptor lowest bidder **** with poor regulation and the included DP cable also cheap and nasty.

My experience of Asus and monitors especially their more expensive stuff has not been inspiring at all.

Ha, I was planning on living in ignorance. But thanks for that. Lol.

Well I'll see how it gets on.

Personally, I have bought Asus pretty much since they first appeared. Reason is, apart from the specs all monitors give you, they consistently have good measured input lag figures.

Dell. I still have an ultrasharp 2007wfp and I remember dealing with an agent who I could always ask for. Dell warranties are really good imo. Love the understated designs.

Benq. Again service agents were available by phone and dealing with them was easy. Like their designs very much.

Asus. I have been a victim of their average services. Even been compensated due to their incompetence but I do like the look some of their monitors even though they are now going too far with the rgb lighting imo. I am using one of their monitors right now which fits the purpose but won't be keeping it for too long. Decent warranty duration is welcomed though.

Samsung. I like Samsung monitors and have had quite a few. Glad I haven't needed too much any help from them as I wasn't confident in their support. Contacted them for an issue and it was complicated.

Viewsonic. I only used one monitor from them and it was fantastic. The menu system was a hassle though.

Acer. I did not like the look and quality of plastics used on the monitor I had a few months ago. Performance of the monitor was not as good as it should have been. Can't speak for customer services.

LG. The two LG ultrawide's I had were pretty decent. I felt the registration part was a bit awkward. Couldn't change my email address once it was registered. Asked for help but didn't get a reply. Glad I sold it before anything went wrong.

That's the order from the monitors that I have used. Dell and Benq are my go to manufacturers.
