How would you upgrade this computer?

Hi all,

I'm looking to upgrade my gaming computer but I'm not really sure where it would be best to spend my money or what the best components are at the moment. I updated my graphics card some time ago but I would estimate that the rest of the system is 4 or 5 years old.

I was hoping to upgrade the CPU, CPU cooler, motherboard, RAM (to 8GB) and case. I don't have an exact budget but I would estimate £350-450.

- For the case I was thinking the Fractal Design R3 or R4 (£70-£90) because it's cool and quiet but I'm open to suggestions.
- For the CPU fan I was thinking the Spire Thermax Eclipse II (£40) but I'm open to suggestions.
- I would appreciate a motherboard with good audio output for my amp (a SPDIF output would be great)
- Is it safe to continue using the same PSU?

Q6600 G0 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" @ 2.40GHz
Asus P5K Premium
MSI 6950 HD OC
Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5
CM690
Corsair HX Series 520W Modular PSU
1TB HDD F3
Windows 7 x64

Can't spec you but id go 3570k, Z77X-Dh3 & 8gb of RAM.

The fractal r3, R4 are great choice.

For the cooler id go the CM 612s.

Hope this helps

Thanks all! I'd like to be able to confidently overclock the CPU (can that CPU be overclocked easily, by the way?) but volume is also a major issue to me so I'd happily spend £20 or so more on the CPU cooler, might a Noctua of some sort be a better purchase? I can also get the case £10 cheaper, the CPU £5 cheaper and the motherboard £5 cheaper elsewhere to make up for that.

if you can afford to get the noctua go for it :) it is a great cooler. yer the cpu can be overclocked farily easily. ask if not sure how to. and someone will help.
