Looking to upgrade using very limited budget

Hopefully going to source second hand parts.

Any advice?

Thank in advance.

i7 3770k is about the best CPU you can upgrade to without a motherboard upgrade.

Perhaps sell your gpu and get a 980ti or a 1080?

CPU can't be overclocked on that H77 motherboard, far as I know. So keep an eye out for i7-3770 (non-K) as well. Could be cheaper than the K.

To add to the list of GPU options - second hand GTX 1070 or 1070Ti for about £200 and £250 respectively, is a good shout, especially if they have warranty left (EVGA lets you register their cards even if second hand).

Maybe a bigger SSD to hold your fave games. Prices are good on those just now.

1TB SSD - £120
GTX 1070 - £200
i7-3770 - £80

That could be the £400 and well spent, if you do decide on bigger SSD anyway.

Thanks for all the replies guys, wasn't getting notifications for some reason.

Anyhow.....how about this:

I'm thinking of going for a new system altogether.

Ryzen 2600 (can be OC to 4.2)

8/16GB DDR4

500GB ssd

MSI B450M Gaming Motherboard

What you think?

ps Gpu please recommend.

New GPUs should be available for pre-order tomorrow. So wait for reviews. Get GPU first, see how performance is with it, and if possible keep going and wait for Ryzen 3xxx in summer. Might then get 8-core for price of 6-core (and with faster cores).

If you can't wait, then grab 16GB (2x8GB) rightaway. Ryzen plays better with two sticks not four (unless things have improved a lot). And if your case is ATX then get ATX mobo.
