Hope you all had a good Xmas.

Basicly, I am looking to upgrade a few parts of my PC. I have ruled out a few parts (mobo, HD, PS).

At the moment I have:
  • AMD 3200
  • 1Gig Corsair RAM
  • ATI X800 HIS

Which of those would you recommend upgrading first?

I use the PC for quite a lot of photoshop work, but i do like to play games on it.

Your opinions would be appreciated ;)

You could upgrade your CPU to a dual core AMD and keep the same motherboard?

If you google for tomshardware cpu comparison there is a chart with all the different CPUs, the X2 4400+ seems to speed things up, nearly halves some rendering times in photoshop.
They seem to cost around £130 new i think

Id look at spending that on perhaps a X1950Pro for now, and save more to upgrade to conroe later!

If it fits, another Gig of RAM.

Untill you have enough for C2D i would just upgrade that VGA :)

what socket is your cpu ? if its socket a barton then you cant upgrade the cpu as the 3200 is fastest they done. i dont know much about the amd chips after that but if your 3200 is 939 and your mobo supports san diego cpus. you can get a amd 3700 sandiego and a 1950 pro for about £220.

If he wanted to slightly upgrade (ie. 3700) he may want to drop the X1950 so that he can get 2GB Ram considering he does a lot of Photoshop work.

This is for around £220:

AMD Athlon 64 3700
Arctic Cooling Alpine 64
Crucial 1GB RAM
7600GS 256MB

not bad..but maybe even save more for a C2D Set up?
