As above, been looking around and can't seem to find any info on people running this cooler on a q6600, got mine at 3.6 but runs pretty toasty. Checked the large thread and nobody seems to have that config, closest was a 9650 i believe.

I'd also be interested in the answer to this question, my Noctua NH-U12F can't seem to cut it with the Q6600, and I'm not sure where to go from here.

The H50 approximately matches the TRUE on the i7 processors, so I would expect it to approximately match it on the q6600 as well. I'm afraid the H50 is probably not the answer.

Lapping the TRUE may help considerably, though it'll take you a while.

Done that a while back, lapped both and still temps get pretty high, never had much luck with the true's (had 2 so far).

With a TRUE black and 2 x 1500 rpm pwm fans my old q6600 was hitting 68-62-68-62 at 3.6ghz, 1.400 vcore, perhaps try a more powerful fan on it, could be a cheaper option.

Ive tried sharkoons in push pull and at the minute ive 2 noctuas in push pull with no real change.

Which model of the sharkoons? When i pushed mine to 3.8ghz i lapped both cooler and cpu to 2000 grit and added 2 x 2000 rpm silent eagles, the TRUE really benefits from fans like theese, temps were 81-81-72-72 at 3.8ghz prior to lapping and changing fans, managed to get them back down again to 68-62-68-62, (same as 3.6ghz) albeit with a jump in volts from 1.4 to 1.512 for 3.8ghz.

Perhaps you need a better case?

Case is a cosmos s with a large side panel fan blowing directly onto the heatsink.

Silent eagle 2000's.

Whats the rest of the airflow like into the case, ive never been that keen on side panel fans as i prefer a direct flow of air from the front of the case to the rear, for this reason i fitted a scythe kama bay in my eclipse case to improve air intake.

Theres an intake at the bottom for the hard drive, top has space for 3 fans, currently one as an exhaust, considering making it an intake so it will be pulling in air right in front of the hsf.

Worth me getting a H50 from a Tuniq Tower? Currently at 3.4GHz 1.28v (1.2v VID) and load temps are in the 70°C's

I'd like to hit 3.6~3.8Ghz.

Your temps seem a bit high considering the voltage your running at. With the same cooler my temps are lower than yours (mid 60's) and im running my cpu with quite abit more vcore than you (just to get 3.2GHz).

Are you shure its seated right with a good spread of tim?

Well it "should" be but as it's so much of a rave to take it off I haven't bothered to check ;)

:p I dont blame you. I just ordered my h50 and im going to try and see if i can just use my tuniq backplate to save me the hassle and time of switching them.
