I'm a bit rusty, so I just want a bit of advice.

Spec is

2500k
Gigabyte Z77Z-UD3H
8Gb Kingston Hyper X

The only changes I made were, Multi to x45
vcore from 1.25 to 1.3
QPI/VTT = 1.1

Everything else is default.

Why does coretemp report my VID as 1.3911 v?

Thanks

Core Temp reads temperature straight off the chip, I would trust it or Real Temp before anything else.

Core Temp is reading the VID value off the chip as well, it's not reporting Vcore.

The VID is what the CPU is requesting afaik for the frequency it's at, you may find that prime might fail, how long do you plan to run prime for?

VID is not the same as VCore. VCore is the actual voltage the processor is being fed by the motherboard.
VID is the recommended voltage the processor should be running at at the current power state, this is a predetermined value, programmed by the CPU manufacturer. When the processor settings, especially the VCore is kept at default settings, Core Temp will provide a good approximation of the real VCore, but if you change the setting using the BIOS or by other means, Core Temp's VID readings should be ignored.

Thanks guys.

I only ran prime for 10 mins, I may run it for longer but I have never been an 8 hours prime stable kinda guy.

Is there another test which can run for much shorter? Lynx or something?

As long as my temps and voltages are ok and I don't get any crashes during games, I'm happy.
