Unfortunately I've kinda lost interest in gaming. The final nail was the PS4. Picked one up at launch and it didn't hold much interest. Not because of the machine... Because I guess i've got a little too old, and prefer tinkering in the garage like old gits do, rather than in front of the screen playing video games.

I still have a gaming PC, and i did buy GTAV (as i did on the PS3, PS4) but hardly call myself addicted. I'll play it for maybe an hr or two a week.

I also bought my eldest kid a PS4 the Christmas before last, and gave them a WiiU the yr before that. We have a 360 in the household and four PS3's, but no games are really played on them. Only used for Netflix.... My kids do play their PC's though and a lot.. minecraft roboblox and youtube. That's all they seem to be interested in, even though they have PS4's and 360's to choose from, and their pc's are good enough to run anything (i7's 2600k /w 7950's)

Did not get an XBOX One, well cos it would only see the same usage as my PS4... As in NONE !!! lol

Anyway keen to know how console gaming is doing these days? I was always a bit of a diehard... Owning most consoles / computers, pc always up to date from back in the day going all the way back to the Atari2600... But ever since turning 40 3 yrs ago, it all took a sharp dive south ! Completely lost interest.

Gettin' old i guess.

So how is the next gen doing ?

It's alright. Some good games, but nothing that's blown me away. Although I blame the current state of the industry more than the hardware. The money's in mass appeal and accessibility and pretty much everything we buy is the gaming equivalent of bowling with the inflatable bumpers up. Everyone's too scared to try something new or do more than regurgitate the tried and tested. Anyway - going way offtopic!

The hardware's good and and at some point someone is going to make a game that makes everyone stand up and pay attention :) Hopefully.

Plenty of interesting games around, barriers to entry in the console market are almost non-existent these days. Never been more choice!

We're yet to see the proper games imo that are made for "next gen", which I prefer to call current gen now :p

This will of course change soon with upcoming games such as Uncharted 4. I think(or hope) we will start seeing developers finally making use of the tech in a few years time.

It's good, the games do feel like a .5 upgrade over last gen though. Same stuff just prettier. No real advancement in physics, AI, gameplay mechanics or anything else that they've been promising for the last decade or so.

I kinda agree. I only buy a console once I see a worthwhile exclusive on it. I bought a WiiU several months after launch, because Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate was released on it. A worthwhile purchase, I put hundreds of hours into that game. But besides a few other Nintendo exclusives, I really haven't bothered with consoles. I bought the MGS HD collection, but that was on old gen. I even bought a PS3 at the start of this year, after getting tired of PS4 not having backwards compatibility.

I'm not the only one. When we have PC to play those multiplatform games and when all that releases on PS4/XBONE are the same old games lazily 'remastered', I don't blame folks for not using/buying those systems. Yes, there are some exclusives like Bloodborne and Sunset Overdrive, but they are few and don't appeal to a lot of folks (including me).

I know a lot of folks that play games on PC, who have WiiUs. And/or they have PS4/XBONEs for one or two games but they usually make the complaint/joke that there is no reason to use those systems. The funnier thing is that before, people were making fun of WiiU for apparently not having any games. Now I'm seeing folks who've never owned Nintendo consoles buy WiiUs just to play the great games on it. I'm not a hater (console wars/PC master race are childish, purile ideas IMO), I have all 3 last gen systems, because they all have great games on them. But current gen doesn't do that.

I hope that E3 this year gives me a reason to buy a PS4 (or an XBONE). Otherwise, I might as well spend that money on a GPU like the 390X.

It's been a bit of a letdown to be honest.

XBL and PSN have had serious issues since the PS4 and X1 were released.

Loads of massively broken games have been released that took ages to fix and needed massive download files to do so.

All the bloody "remastered" games we've been seeing.

DLC is getting utterly ridiculous now: season passes being announced LONG before a game as even been released, "day one" DLC etc. It seems that now you buy a stripped down version of the original game just as a means to be sold the rest of the game through DLC.

All the downgrades that a lot of games are getting.

let get this straight, PSN has had serious issus since release.

Xbox live had one massive DDOS outage at christmas and that was it. Xbox live doesn't have the scheduled maintenance that PSN has, and there have been several occasions where PSN has been down due to unscheduled outage that XBox live hasn't.

I do recall XBL having issues in the past 12 months where azure had some problems which prevented friends from showing. It just said "cannot display your friends list right now" but this was minor since you could still play online.

Exactly the way i feel about these so called next gen consoles :)

Very disappointed with what they have offered so far and i own both PS4 and Xbone and there is just nothing that excites me about them at the moment.

Finding myself playing more on pc now more than ever and my pc is getting on for 5 years old.

Next gen? Good grief, the current gen hasn't been out that long. I expect the Ps5 and XBox Two to be announced in a few years.

what sums it up for me is that the best games ive played on my ps4 (gta 5 and last of us remastered) i could have bought for PS3 and saved a few hundred quid

so the next gen aint exactly doing all that for me... waiting for things like uncharted and a proper MGS

This weeks release was a remastered PS3 game that was a remastered PS2 game!

Kinda sums it up right there

After buying a PS4, Xbox One and a Wii U I still use my PC as my main (and only tbh) gaming platform. The consoles just dont offer anything over the PC, and the improvement over the PS3 etc is very underwhelming.

I'm enjoying it. I've had my Xbox One for a year now and I've enjoyed the usual annual sports games I play, along with some amazing games like Ori, Dragon Age Inquisition, and Shadow of Mordor.

I've thoroughly enjoyed others as well, but I can't be bothered to list them all out here.

For me the media capabilities have been something I didn't think I needed, but now that everyone goes through the Xbox, including TV, I wouldn't be without it.

I traded the 360 in for a PS4 on Destiny release day and really regret it, could've played Destiny on the 360 and only really use the PS4 for Netflix and Amazon Prime at the moment.

Should've stuck with the 360 to be honest
