I need to upgrade a mate's PC and he's only got £250 to spend on a new mobo, cpu, RAM and gfx.

How does this look?

I'd go for that. Took a hit on the CPU but not a massive one and the E4400 is a great CPU. The card was bumped up the 1GB model because it's only £3 more, so you may as well. Also bump the GeIL to the stuff on this week only, as it's only £2 more. The motherboard is a lot better and more futureproof as it holds DDR3 and DDR2, and also support for 1333FSB natively (ie. Penryn).

Thanks for the feedback chaps. How about this (I added a new PSU also because he's had problems with stability on his current system) and still on the £250 budget :)

I'd stick with what you have listed, as it is on budget. The E4400 is obviously slightly faster, but I don't think it's enough of an upgrade to be worth going over-budget.
