I havent included an optical drive as ive already got a spare PX-755A. Main point is will the CPU work with the chosen mobo, amd is the freezer cooler compatable with the conroe?

Will the GSKIL thats on offer this week be any good? Was thinking of this one :

G.Skill 2GB DDR2 LA PC2-5400 (2x1GB) CAS4 Dual Channel Kit (F2-5400PHU2-2GBLA) (MY-012-GS)

Its cheaper than the geil as well

Yep that kit is good, but it doesn't give you as much overclocking headroom as the G.Skill 2GB DDR2 NR PC2-6400 which is also on offer this week...

What sort of overclock are you thinking of? 2.8GHz?

Well this will be my first intel system so when it comes to clocking them im a bit of a noob. I guess i could stetch to the NR PC2-6400 if i dropped the X-Fi for now and stick with onboard sound.

Well it's all down to how far you wish to overclock.

PC2-5300 = 333MHz, so 333 x 7 = 2.3GHz
PC2-6400 = 400MHz, so 400 x 7 = 2.8GHz

Most RAM kits overclock to some degree, so you could push the PC2-5300 beyond 333MHz, but exactly how much is unknown...whereas with the PC2-6400 you are guaranteed 400MHz. The Gigabyte mobo can go way higher than 400MHz so think about how far you would like to overclock. :)

Ok i get what you mean now. Can you use a divider if needed like i do on the 939 rig?
