Mine must have just gone without warning, rolling down an ever so slight incline, resting on a neighbour's car, luckily no damage done.

Not used to it on my Ford so I couldn't gauge it going, is it quite comonplace for them to go without any warning?

Been used to gradual decline on Pugs due to the poor design on them but this really caught me by surprise!

It's not unusual for rear disk brakes to suffer from slackening off if the brakes were not applied very firmly with hot disks.

Never suffered from this problem as I always leave the car in gear...

Yes I know about this and always leave my Pugs in gear unless they are being stored on the flat for a while. I actually left the handbrake on nice and tight tonight so maybe I strained it too much accidentally

ps Their only drums on the rear of mine

That's OK - hand brakes that operate on brake drums are more effective than those that operate on brake discs.

Mine's good when you're not putting driving force through the wheels.......I was going up the driving wondering 'why is there clouds of brake smoke in here'........suddenly realised I'd left the handbrake on, it's a bit overwhelmed by the engine! :D

Yes it just one of those freaky things, about to get it MOT'D anyway on Monday as it's due, i'm starting to wonder what else is gonna happen with it as what with somebody hitting it and driving off and now this maybe she's cursed :(

Handbrake on the Toyota is absolute rubbish. All I can say is thankfully I live in some of the flattest country in the world.

Handbrake on the Neon works as per factory.

There IS no handbrake on the truck!! :D Parking brake F.T.W. ;)

What's the difference?:o Oh and don't you call it an "e-brake" over there? What the hell is that all about? :o

Mines a big iffy. Was an advisory at the last MOT in June so id better get it adjusted before the next one. It just about holds the car, but the car always gets left in gear anyway :)

If you're storing the car you are better leaving the handbrake off and the car in gear.

Yeah I know I meant store as in leaving it stationary for a day or two. My face must have been a sight though as the woman next door couldn't stop smiling about it, naughty escort :p

The parking brake on my truck is to the left of the other two pedals. Left of where the clutch would be (if it had one). It is foot operated with a handle release just above the bonnet release.

So not really useful as a handbrake is. Mind you, we only use handbrakes over here for parking the car (hence it being called a parking brake). People calling it an e-brake are a little on the wierd side to me. They think of it as an emergency brake. In other words if something ever happened to thier primary brake system they would apply the parking brake to stop in an emergency.

Like that's going to happen or work....

How many clicks should a 306 1.9Td have to use to hold the car.

(Friends car, MOT Saturday. He thinks it needs tightening plus I offered to fix a few other things)

My 1.4 goes about half way up the travel, i think its about 5 or 6 on mine, and one more if i want it to hold tight.
