Hoya close-up filters

I'm toying with the idea of getting some 1x, 2x & 4x close-up filters for my S6500fd.

Are these filters any good or will they degrade the image quality too much to be worthwhile?

Are they 1 or 2 element ones? I used a 2 element adjustable one for quite a while with pretty good results. Quite severe barrel distortion in some circumstances though.

I'm not sure, so I'll assume 1 element. The only other thing I can find out about them is that I should use a small aperture with them.

you could try hunting down a raynox 250 or 150 as they do the right sizes for the the 6500
