Right...I'm looking at the laptops on offer from 3 with their mobile broadbeans and the 2133 strikes me as being the most appropriate for my needs (web browsing mainly, occasional very basic image work - resizing and resaving in PSP for the most part, and playing background music).

I'm going with 3 as I am able to get a very good deal...

Having read a multitude of reviews, the main criticisms seem to come in terms of battery life and CPU slowdown.

Firstly, I'm always beside a power point so I can cope with 'only' two hours before I have to find another :p

In terms of CPU, does anyone have any experience of running XP, a stripped XP install or a stripped Ubuntu on a 2133? A stripped XP is currently favourite.

What can I expect to pay for a 2Gb RAM and a 6-cell battery upgrade?

Thanks in advance :)

Hmmm...Had a play with it today instore for about half an hour. Ran a vid on media player, loaded some big spreadsheets and browsed some (very) graphically-intensive websites...And it coped admirably. That was on a basic Vista install...Not sure which type though. With an optimised XP, it should be fiiiiine. :)

One irk - As an existing customer, 3 will offer me their 15Gb mobile broadbeans package for half price....But they can't bundle that with the laptop offer. Talking to the chick instore, they aren't allowed to budge on anything. They can't even offer extras to sway the deal...Word from on high. She said to call the store in the morning to see what the new month's offers bring.

P4U had a cute white VAiO when I walked past...Will check it out...
