Hi, fairly specific question this, but I need to install a new HP 5930 switch. The switch caomes with RJ45 (switch end) to serial port (laptop end) but my laptop doesn't doesn't have a serial port.

The manual has a link to download a driver to use a mini USB cable instead - http://www.exar.com/product/interface/uarts/usb-uarts/xr21v1410 - but I can't see any download links on that page.

The file I'm looking for is - XR21V1410_XR21B1411_Windows_Ver1840_x64_Installer.EXE - but I'm not having any luck finding it via google.

So I thought no harm in asking here, as maybe someone who does this sort of thing for a living knows exactly what I need to do?

Cheers!

1. Just buy any serial to USB adapter, plug into USB port and install the driver (if required)
2. Attach USB adapter to console cable and plug into switch
3. Load up putty and connect to the new COM port now installed (check device mgr for confirmation)
4. Connected to switch!

These have an out of band management port on the back which is DHCP enabled out of the box.

I usually just stick a network cable in and run tftpd32 DHCP server on my laptop, then use Putty to Telnet on, and you can update the firmware via TFTP as well.
