Hi all,

My mum cracked the screen on her laptop last week so stripped the panel out, got the model number and ordered a replacement from a well known auction site. Fitted the screen and it was working fine. Tonight I get a phone call saying the laptop started to smoke and got really hot at the bottom of the screen

I nipped round and was confronted by this :

The cable seems to have gone really hard in a section and all the covering has come away and it stinks. Ive never seen this before from replacing a screen and ive fixed a fair few in my time!

There is nothing for the cable to snag on and short as its all plastic around it. Could it be a bad screen and its drawn too much power and blown the cable? Its a LED screen so no invertor in there.

Ive contacted the place I got the screen from tonight and waiting for a response.

What do you guys think?
