The guy from HP who configured our original blade servers, I think has put the memory in the wrong slots.

Should a 12GB, 2 x CPU, G6 should look like this:

PROC 1 DIMM 1D : 2048 MB 1333 MHz
PROC 1 DIMM 2A : 2048 MB 1333 MHz
PROC 1 DIMM 3E : 2048 MB 1333 MHz
PROC 1 DIMM 4B : 2048 MB 1333 MHz
PROC 1 DIMM 5F : 2048 MB 1333 MHz
PROC 1 DIMM 6C : 2048 MB 1333 MHz
PROC 2 DIMM 1D : not installed
PROC 2 DIMM 2A : not installed
PROC 2 DIMM 3E : not installed
PROC 2 DIMM 4B : not installed
PROC 2 DIMM 5F : not installed
PROC 2 DIMM 6C : not installed

Or should it look like this?

PROC 1 DIMM 1D : not installed
PROC 1 DIMM 2A : 2048 MB 1333 MHz
PROC 1 DIMM 3E : not installed
PROC 1 DIMM 4B : 2048 MB 1333 MHz
PROC 1 DIMM 5F : not installed
PROC 1 DIMM 6C : 2048 MB 1333 MHz
PROC 2 DIMM 1D : not installed
PROC 2 DIMM 2A : 2048 MB 1333 MHz
PROC 2 DIMM 3E : not installed
PROC 2 DIMM 4B : 2048 MB 1333 MHz
PROC 2 DIMM 5F : not installed
PROC 2 DIMM 6C : 2048 MB 1333 MHz

Cheers

Hi,

Sounds like its been installed incorrectly.

I know memory installation in both my Dell PE2900 & PE2950 have to be installed in alternating banks like how you've described it. During boot it would error heavily but still boot if memory has been installed incorrectly.

Only way to truely find out is the HP memory installation manual.

goodluck

It's not sequential in our IBM boxes either.
Pop the cover off and check to see if there's a mainboard diagram, there usually is.

I decided not to be lazy and read some stuff, turns out I was right, and the HP consultant configured them all wrong.

It would have been whinging on POST if there were wrong, I guess?

I woulda been tempted to drag them back out to do a proper job.
