HP DV6-2110EA Problems

Hey guys,

Few problems with the laptop

It is an HP DV6-2110EA, running Intel® Core i7-720QM Processor.

The problems:

Main problem is that the CPU will not go above 1ghz, no matter what you do.

The other problem is that it now will not charge. It's odd, because the battery has some power left, but the laptop won't turn on with just the battery, it will only turn on and work if the PSU is plugged in to it. Now, you can unplug the PSU once the computer has booted, and it will run off the battery, but it won't power from the battery, and won't charge the batter either.

Any ideas what could be the problem? Could it be a motherboard replacement job? Or something more simple and less expensive than that?

Sounds like a duff battery, what does the HP battery check tell you?

I don't have the laptop with me now, I've left it with someone from work to have a look at it.

I didn't think a duff battery would effect the CPU? As I say, it won't budge from 1GHz speed.

Also, seems odd that it will run on the battery but only once it's been powered up by the PSU.

Super confused...and warranty ran out couple weeks back, how convenient :/
