HP DV6000 laptop not booting

My friends DV6000 laptop recently stopped booting up properly. When he turns it on the lights all come on with the fans etc, but the screen does not display anything. After a few seconds, the laptop seems to reboot itself but with the same results. Sometimes after he keeps turning it on and off it will boot up as normal.

He has tried reseating the RAM and only booting with 1 stick but it doesn't seem to help. Any ideas?

Unplug it and take the battery out for a couple of minutes.

If that doesn't work check if it is under warranty. HP's warranty service is actually really good especially if they have the parts you need in stock.

Other people may have better ideas how to sort it so sorry if I'm not much help

if you can get it into windows try a bios update sounds daft but can work, failing that i would say your looking at mainboard failure.

Hey, does your laptop make any beeping sounds? My friend had a similar problem with his HP DV Media centre laptop, and his graphics card was borked..

There are no beeps on the laptop, just lights. He has tried taking out the battery and updated the BIOS. He restored it to factory settings and sometimes it seems to work faster but still not all the time.
