I'm looking for a good desktop replacement for the family, and have been considering the Dell XPS 16, just waiting for the right deal. I can across the HP dv8-1080ea yesterday, and it looks to be a lot of laptop for the money (circa £1200), and, at least on paper (or LCD) better specced than the XPS 16 with an i7 and Blu Ray.
Does anyone have any experience of this or similar HP's? I've had a play with other HP models in a well known world of computers, and have to say HP's build quality seems better than the Dells on show, although to be fair I've not seen an XPS 16, which apparently is nicely made.
