Hello everyone,

I'm looking at the above laptop.

32GB Ram
i7-1260P
1TB SSD
4K
No Touch Screen

Its currently on sale for around £1300.

Would love to hear your opinions on this laptop and also if there is a better laptop for the money. I can go to around the £1500 mark as work are paying for the laptop.

Thank you in advance!

John

Sorry to bump but would really like some help with this if anyone has any suggestions? I haven't got much knowledge in laptops and want this to last me 3 years so want to chose the right one. Thank you

I think the CPU is a little weak. It's gen 12 rather than the current gen 13 but what really makes the difference is the missing zero in the name. This means it has only two-thirds the power of the i7-12700H which is what I'd really be looking for in this class of laptop.

It also doesn't have a discrete GPU but Intel's current Iris Xe graphics would probably be good enough, depending on your workload.

The one thing I really don't like is the keyboard layout as HP has squeezed in a numeric pad by moving the cursor keys to where the r/h Alt, Windows and Control keys should be. My wife's Pavilion laptop has a similar layout and it irritates me every time I use it.

Thank you for your reply Snapshot, I was not aware of the difference in processor - thank you for saving me buying the wrong laptop! Thats why this forum can't be beaten!

Are there any laptops you would recommend around this same price range?

There were some very good deals on the Lenovo Legion Pro 5 this morning but the 30% off coupon is now sold out. :( Mine's two years old and I was seriously considering upgrading. It's a 16" 2560x1600 screen rather than 17" 4K but it's a very good screen. My eyes aren't young enough to consider 4k on a laptop screen.....

I use the compare facility on https://www.cpubenchmark.net/ when I want to look at which CPUs are worthwhile.

Thanks Snapshot. I appreciate your help and will give the HP a miss.

I checked Lenovo and they still have an offer running on the

ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 5

I can spec one up with

i7-12800H
32GB Ram
1TB SSD
16" Display
GeForce RTX™ 3050 Ti Laptop GPU 4GB GDDR6

and it comes out around £1700 inc VAT.
Do you think this is a good buy or is there a better laptop out there for the money?

I have been looking for a few months now and with so much variety I am struggling to press the button and purchase something.

As always, I would prefer to buy from ocuk so if they offer something similar then happy to go with that.

Thanks again,

John
