Anyone ever used one of these or heard bad things?

The Envy 17's are ok but a word of warning, they run stupidly hot.
They have already massively underclocked the 5850 to try and reduce heat (500 instead of 625mhz) but it will still be scolding to the touch whilst gaming on the bottom left, top left and left palm rest.

If heat doesnt bother you or you dont really game then these are ok.

No first hand experience, but I've looked into it a fair bit as well (although I was more interested in the Envy 14 originally).

There's a big thread on the machine on notebookreview.com in the HP lounge.

Main downside I've seen is overheating, especially on the i7 quad, fan noise, and no switchable graphics (even on the i5). Also the stupid arrow keys.

Thanks Olivier and Ninja,

I dont think i'd mind th heat too much my old alienware ran really hot as well, i'd just be worried its causing problems with other components.

I have also been looking at the ACER Aspire 8943G-
