Hello

Got a g6-1390sa with a failing HDD so want to replace with an SSD. Problem is the bios is pretty basic and I have no way of making sure the sata is set to AHCI, ro even if it is supported anyway. Wondering how important this is for SSD?.

thanks

*EDIT* Never mind. Managed to get into Windows (7) on the failing drive and see it has an Intel AHCI driver listed as running in device manager.

My friend has a failing HD on his too, he could not get in to windows 7. As hard a as I try to fix things I couldn't get in to find out. Thanks for posting this! :)

I am in the middle of extracting all his data but the drive keeps crapping out on me, will probably get most of it.

How are you transferring windows from the HD to the SSD?

On the one I am fixing the recovery partition seems good, do you just image it and put it on the new drive?
