Hello,

I have a HP G62 series laptop which I believe is over heating. A few times (probably once a week at the moment) the machine powers off while in use. The laptop is being used on a desk with the side vent clear.

The first time it just switched off however when I was using it yesterday a blue screen appeared saying Windows was dumping the memory and then turned off. I didn't have time to take note of the error message or reference number).

I have installed realTemp to monitor the temperature of the laptop but looking for any other recommendations people may have?

Thanks
Luke

Did you get it sorted out? My stepson has just come back from Uni and his is doing the same thing. I am not that keen to crack it open to replace the thermal compound if a blast with some compressed air is all it needs.

Usually that's all that's needed but if its lumps of fluff then you can sometimes just get away with popping the keyboard out and the fan is exposed letting you pull the fluff out.

The above resolved this for me. Cleaned fans and air vents with compressed air. Ran memtest86 which showed all memory was ok. Been keeping an eye on it since but so far so good.

Also has a tidy up of software on the machine and and processes that were running when Windows started as CPU usage was quite high.

Thanks
