I'm planning to install ESXi and a couple of VMs.

All PCs in the household run Windows 7.

What's the best way to set-up a centralised network share that automatically appears on all pcs in the network?

Depends what type of VM you want to run the shares on, guess you have the option of running it on a Windows VM, a Linux VM, or something like freenas or QNap

Remember when setting up ESXi on these servers, its best to install ESXi on a USB stick from the motherboard, then install VM's on one hard drive datastore, and the data on another hard drive datastore

Just be careful with the speed and performance over the network/read/write times when working this through ESXi and the microserver, some people may be able to give you tips on how to get the best network performance/disk performance

When you have these set-up, just point/map drives etc from your other machines on your network to the shares on the VM
