Hi

My housemates laptop is on the fritz! ITs an HP Pavilion ZE2000. I think its either a problem with the HDD or the RAM. Ive been tryign to copy her files off for 3 days now with Unstopable Copier, almost every file generates errors!

To be able to test my HDD or RAM theory I want to format and reinstal Windows and also run Memtest. Trouble is the boot sequence is set to HDD first, and the BIOS is password protected so I cant change it!

Does anyone know how I can either reset the BIOS so that the password goes, or find out what the password is?

(If it is the HDD, ill be in the MM looking for a cheap small 2.5" IDE drive, if you have any)

Cheers

I will give this a go when the laptop finishing copying! Its been copying files for 48 hours solid so far. With the unstopable copier it tries repeatedly to get files when they generate errors, meaning some are taking hours to copy. Its happening on lots of files, so looks like more than just a Hard Drive error...

K, ive given up copying and bought a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter to use the HDD in my case and remove the files that way. Bios has told me a drive failure is iminent, so its definately a HDD problem. Im looking for a cheap small IDE drive in the MM if anyone has one?
