I've just joined the group of unlucky souls (of which I'm sure there are many) who were about to purchase the now extinct (at least at the £400 price bracket) NEC.

The HP LP2475w seems to be the recommended "2nd best" but I wanted to get a general feel for what these unlucky souls are going to do... still get the HP (or another model)? Despie it being inferior to the NEC (if you think it IS). OR wait until something as good or better comes along as the NEC for a similar price?

I'm sure most of you, like me, don't have £400 just to burn and then splash it out again, on a whim, willy-nilly.

The NEC come around on B grade overclockers every so often for around £330.

What does b grade mean? That it comes with a load of dead pixels or just that the manual, cd or a lead is missing?

I'm very pleased with my HP after my long (although not quite as long as mrk's) search for a decent 24" screen. Dell 2408 -> Hazro 24W -> Hazro 24Wi -> HP 2475w (sent back, red/green hue cast) -> HP 2475w (perfect).

I asked that B-Grade question myself recently, and I think it is the latter (cable, manual missing etc) rather than a technical fault.

How would I know if I had a red / green hue cast?

Absolutely fantastic monitor! Especially for movies and games.

PS3 and blu-ray look stunning on this monitor.

Better "gaming" monitor than the NEC WMGX3.

I just bought one of these last week, great monitor, no pink/green problems but i did have trouble playing Blue ray discs on it. Using power DVD, every time i tried to play the video it gave me an error, saying the monitor is not HDCP, so it won't play. Checked the Nvidia control panel, it says both Graphics card and monitor were HDCP but checking with BD advisor says the monitor is not HDCP. I was using a DVI lead btw, tried a DVI to HDMI lead instead and this worked OK, BD Advisor says monitor is HDCP. Blue rays play fine with HDMI but not DVI.
Just thought I'd let you know in case you only plan on using a DVI lead and want to watch blue ray;)

Simon!
