Hi,
I've got an LP3065 which just developed a problem this morning. Was looking at a website when the screen brightness randomly went to 100% for a second then returned to normal. After that the bottom 50% of the screen has no backlight. Tried everything I can think of and the bottom half of the monitor still remains dark.
If however the monitor is turned off then on again its perfect for 1 second then the backlight for the bottom turns off after 1 second exactly.
Is it possible there just a loose connection somewhere inside the monitor?
Theres no warranty left on this so I can't send it back :(
Anything I could do to try fix it?

From my experience it could be just a loose connection. Backlights are powered by inverters and will have two power leads behind the LCD. Try opening it up and making sure the connections are seated correctly.

Used to work on touchscreen kiosks and have a fair amount of experience with LCD's.

Finally got into it, just needed some gentle persuasion :p
Checked all the connections and everything seemed ok. Did find one thing, the PCB for the USB ports was really bent, had been installed incorrectly, other than that it looked fine.
Didn't get the to the backlights to see if they had burnt out - which I assume they haven't since the display is perfect for the initial 1 second of it being turned on.
Really don't know what to do now.

Perhaps if you talk to HP (Considering its an expensive monitor) they might do a pay for repair?

Yea I've contacted them and I'm still waiting for a reply. There's at TV sales/repair shop just down the road for me so I'll give them a ring tomorrow and see if they'll be able to help.

Well I've been in touch with HP which was complete waste of time, they can't do anything for me. Haven't contacted the TV shop yet but I doubt they can do anything for me. What a hassle a duff backlight is...

To keep you updated, I've taken it to the TV repair shop. Sounded like something they'll be able to fix. Costing me £40 for them just to look at it :\

I know this thread is long dead but did you ever fix this?
I have exactly the same problem with my LP3065 bottom back light comes on only for a second then dark:(
