Hello all,

So I got a HP Mini 210 for xmas. Its nice enough but to be honest I havent really started using it yet, as the screen was busted and needed to be sent back to get fix.

Anyway I have it back now and want to do somethings to it.

First of 1GB of memory isnt going to cut it lol, Ive heard that the motherboard can only take up to 2GB but am not sure, does anyone on here have one of these and tried to upgrade?

Secondly it has a slot behind the battery for a simcard but is covered with some rubber. Im pretty sure you can only get them with 3G modules if you buy them from the likes of O2 so they charge you a montly contract.

Does anyone know where you can get a 3G module and driver for this netbook? As it would be great to just stick a Pay as you Go sim in it.

Im sure you would be able to stick a 3G module on the motherboard as you can get the same model of netbook with one.

So no one can help me then?

Also the HDD is partitioned by 10GB for Recovery. Am I able to copy that to DVD's or a pendrive or something and delete this partition

Theres also another partitioned part for "HP_TOOLS" that 99MB. Does anyone know what this does? I just hate having a messy computer and all these things are making it slower and messy i imagine.

Just dont want to make a mistake and do something I shouldnt.

I have a Mini 311C and have fitted a Sierra Wireless MC8775 3G card, 3gb of RAM and a 500gb HD to it since I've had it.

It's a bios hack for the 3G card but otherwise very easy mods.

I don't know much about the recovery partitions, I installed Windows 7 on mine.

Well Compaq is made by HP so i guess my one can do it aswell. I hope....

Im told that my motherboard cant take more than 2GB of ram which isnt the best, but aw well what can you do?

To be honest that fourm melted me a little, couldnt find there to reg an account lol.

And couldnt find info i needed. Maybe its tiredness, will have a look later on.
