If it does come out at that Resolution, I might be interested in entering the Netbook owners club. It'll have to be around £300 to get people interested, I reckon.

better res in my opinion than the current options but still not exactly hi-res when you compare it with the (admittedly pricey) sony vaio p and its 8" 1600x768 (iirc) display. I'd also guess you can knock the price up by about £150 for the high res screen as well.

Well the current HP mini 1000 is a crazy £450 and this is better specced surely they cant go over £500 ? they have lost the idea of cheap small systems.

The "HP Compaq Mini 700" is the UK equivalent of the 1000.

It's £300, so I REALLY can't see the 2140 being less than £450.
The Vivienne Tam (red) 1000 is also on sale in the UK at around £400+

Yeah but it costs about £900 and the screen is 2 inches smaller than the HP. It also has a button pointer rather than touchpad which I dont like.

i'd pay up to £500 for one of these. I get VAT back as purchasing for business so not so much of a problem. I think the aluminium case, high res, low weight etc all make this worth a little extra than the likes of the NC10.

not forgeting the battery that lastesd 7:18 when reviewd :D

The 7hrs 18 is with teh 6cell battery.

You can buy the 6cell for the Mini700/1000 as well ;) I intend to.

The standard 3cell on the 2140 gets the same running time as the 700/1000.

The first 2140s will be low res, 1024 x 576. The high res version is due March.

I suspect high res and 80GB SSD will really bump the price.

I've been quite interested in the HP Mini 2140 too.

The high res makes it very attractive to me indeed as compared to the NC10 but the battery life is poor as it's 3 cell. There is a 6 cell option but it makes the HP 2140 look bulky which is no good for me! :(

Also interested in the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 too as this has a higher res too that does 720p and it has a built in TV tuner! :)

But apparently this is a 3 cell battery too so battery life is not as good as the Samsung NC10!

Which netbook should I buy???

I need to buy before I go on holiday in April so I can wait till then!

The dell 10 will come with a 1366x768 option, plus a multitouch trackpad, and will without doubt be a good chunk cheaper.

EDIT: oh I see its been mentioned.... but it does have a 6 cell option to.

Well the mini 9 ships with a 4 cell as standard so its not inconceivable that with the larger footprint they could squeeze in a couple of extra cells. But otherwise I don't know.

Mite be tempted to join the notebook owners club, just to decide between this and the Dell. Assuming the Dell will be cheaper?
