A while ago i made a thread about the same disk array, http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18453596
It has been working great since then. But two weeks ago we were affected by the shylock malware and it infected some shares on the array. A bit of coincidence but around the same time the write performance on small files dropped to 3-5mbyte a second. The malware was cleaned up right away and was not too serious as it was just one share that was infected that was removed and recovered from backup.
We have a document management file store on the array it is 800gb and over 3 million files. The file amount has increased a lot of the last 6 months as the users have been filing a lot of their emails in preparation for the 2010 exchange upgrade coming later in the year. The backups used to go 1200-1600mbyte a minute. But all of a sudden one night it dropped down to 200-300mbyte a minute and has not increased since.
I have done extensive testing on the tape drive, network, the servers involved, copying local disk or remote disk, usb drive all sorts of tests to rule out what the problem is. The tape drive works fine from the same server using the same software but on another partition on the same array, but very large files.
When copying the files from the document store whilst logged in to the server to the other partition, ie cutting out network and tape drives, it still goes 3-5mbyte a second. The hp disk array config software has come back with no errors.
I have logged a fault with hp as i think it is the small file read performance on the array that has an issue.
Anyone have any idea what we could do solve this or what it might be?
