First question is for the raid 5, i shutdown and started up all the servers on the weekend and one of the servers on startup had a warning on one of the drives saying it is at risk of failing please replace. So i replaced the drive, it was a raid 5 configuration and i just took the drive out and put the new on in. This seems to have gone ok and now the hp array utility on that hp server is showing a good status and only telling me to update firmware on the controller. But there is still an odd green led on drive status lights that is always lit, while the other drives have flashing green led, any idea what this means ?
Second question is on the hp msa, i updated the firmware on the storage controllers as advised by HP and this went ok and i was able to get in to the web interfaces after the firmware update ok. After the firmware update i shutdown the msa due to the power down. I shutdown the controllers first from the web inteface and then just powered off the msa from the psu switches on the back. I then started it up again and everything seems to be working ok. But now i can not connect to the web interface, it says password is wrong. I can connect to the controllers via ssh and i can confirm the user accounts has not been changed and everything else seems ok. I even tried to restart the MC using, restart mc a and restart mc b and this did not resolve the problem.
show protocols looks fine.
any ideas? should i restart the storage controllers instead of the management controllers ?
Also the green LED on the drives of the hp msa are all flashing erratically, before the led used to flash slowly and some of the arrays do flash slowly but this fast flashing i have not noticed before. I thought it might be to do with regards the new firmware or at least showing activity due to the firmware upgrade, but it has been three days after the started up of the msa and still flashing
