HP OEM creative X-FI card ?

hye guys ive just 'won' one of these for under 50 quid. there was 7 of them on offer after being stripped from a bulk order of PCs
will this be the same card as you buy from the shops ?
obv being OEM im not expecting any packaging or extras.
the seller provided a link for the drivers which is on the HP site... not creative ?

does anyone have any views? im not sure exactly what im gonna get.
but the picture of the card is has exactly the same architexture as the ones on the creative site. and it has the 2mb xram chips etc... but it has a heatsink on it ?
please advise

higher end x-fi cards ? i thought x-fi was the highest... except the fatal1ty one ?

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Dolby 5.1 AC97 PCI card

This is similar to the XtremeMusic card but this card is an OEM model, Part No: SB0670
It has the X-Fi and 2MB X-RAM chips.


This card comes as seen on the photo, without cable, without manual, without driver CD.
Driver is available here:

It is new, never been used.
It has been removed from a PC where the customer cancelled his bulk order

all of this just dawned on me when i realised the driver page was for an HP site :|

yea it does... its only the fatality that has 64meg

if just got that horrible 'too good top be true' feeling... and ive NEVER truly understoop OEM components :|

insomnia ! thanks... its the heatsink that threw me off to... i hadf the feeling that they were trying to hide somehthing !
it arives on friday so ill post back with the news...
so what do you guys htink of the driver ?
think the ones off the creative site will work ? and can you get all the EAX software etc from the creative site too ? or is it JUST the driver you can download ?

how are the drivers a shambles ?
i mean... ive had nothing but bother with every audio driver ive had for the last 5 years lol... but are the creative obnes just as bad ?
sounds like the x-fi centre is what i was hinking of then

WOW
its installed !
i received it this morning at about 8 or 9...
and i have been on for the whole day trying to get it to work exploring every forum in the land with no successes...
eventually after 15 system restores and MANY driver uninstalls / installs...
i put the creative drivers on form the website ( about the 6th time ) and by about 8 O’clock at night i realized there’s a setting under headphone detection
in the creative audio console that says "automatically mute speakers"
i clicked it and heard a pop from my speakers and the feedback i could hear before disappeared... i neaarly jumped out my seat because i knew it meant something was working... opened a music file and i swear i could almost cry !!! it really was that simple !
the ticky box seems to bare no relevance to the windows mute settings either !

but yea its working and YEA its awesome ! never thought id hear the difference... now all i got ot wait for is my medusas !!!

again guys... THANKS for all the help !!! net beers on me !

( btw i rang the guy up and he said i needed to plug a floppy power cable into it... i thought that was just the elite pro that needed it ?
will it do any harm being in there ?

colin... someone offered me one too. cheeky monkey ! lol

fish... when i bought my 5.1's i thouight id use them until i got my usb headsert... and theyrve just been collecting dust since lol... headasets ive found are sooo much better for online ghaming where hearing people sneaking round th map is critical lol. and yea late at night gaming too !

also people arnt hearing my game when im on skype and teamspeak etc... its really a gaming thing and ofcourse the built in mic

the medusas solve all of my problems really
although during the day i always use my speakers now lol
