HP Omen 15 GTX 1060

Have just picked up one of these bad boys... only comes with 8gb of ram, so want to upgrade this immediately.. not done this before. Appears to come with 8 GB DDR4 (2666 MHz).. to get it up to 16gb, do I just add another of the same?.. which make do I go for, does it matter?

Ram should be replaced in identical matching pairs otherwise you will likely have different timing between dimms and can run into problems

RAM will typically run at the rated speed if the slowest module but save any potential headache and get the same make/model stick. Also check HP for any new BIOS, flash that before upgrading, again for future headache avoidance

Not got it yet.. now thinking of getting a predator helios 300 for its larger screen, but I’m concerned that the one I’m looking at has a i5 8300H processor, whereas the Omen has a i7-8750H Processor.. both have a GTX 1060 6gb, ram and storage is also the same for both
