Hi,

I have several spare HP P410i cards.

I was thinking I could chuck one in my home PC (PCIe x8 which I have spare on my motherboard).

The only thing that's missing are the cables - I'm wondering if anyone knew or had a link to the cables to use to connect to the 2.5" SAS drives.

Thanks,

M.

You need a 2x SFF-8087 forward breakout cable. Make sure it's not a reverse breakout (they look the same) as it wont work.

The ones you linked to should be fine.

I got a set for a customer for linking a IBM M1015 to 4xSAS drives.

I have not come across reverse cables with SFF-8482 SAS connectors, not saying they do not exist however, so you should be pretty safe.

Thanks guys!

I notice that the connector above, PistolPete, connects to SATA and not SAS - are they the same connectors then?

Nope they are not. SAS drives will not connect to SATA connections but SATA drives can connect to SAS connections.

I had a customer who purchased a SAS card from me and I supplied the a 4xSATA cable for him but he came back stating he had SAS drives so I had to change it to a 4xSAS breakout cable.

Ah yes, it's a SATA only cable and will not work with SAS drives due to the bridged gap between the power and data connectors.
Should have read the first post correctly - I misread the SAS as SATA.

SFF8482 cables it is!!
