HP Pavilion Notebook

hi my mate got a HP Pavilion Notebook and he piussed of at vista and want to change to xp. but when we tryed installing xp it said there where no hardrives found =.= any one know why or had this problem? any way to fix it?

At a guess the hard drive is SATA and Windows won't recognise it automatically, you'll need drivers for it which will be on the HP website if they are anywhere. Alternatively have a look in the bios to see if there is an option for IDE compatability mode or similar which will fool Windows into thinking it is an ordinary IDE hard drive.

If the BIOS mentions anything about AHCI mode also turn that off as XP doesn't have drivers for it.
