My dad took his PC over to mine today and told me that it wouldn't start. He said it's been happening a lot of the last week or so now, but this time it refuses to start at all.
I powered it up. The fans start, the hard drive spins up and the power light is on. The problem is that there is absolutely no video output at all to the monitor.
After a quick google search, I read that this happens a lot with the s3000 pavilion range, and that I may have a faulty motherboard on my hands. I phoned up HP and they said that because the warranty is up, I'd have to buy the new motherboard from them. They sent me an email with a quote and I just had a look at it now.
£311!
No way in hell are we going to pay that.
So I thought I'd ask here and make sure that it is indeed a faulty motherboard I'm dealing with and if it's possible for me to try and buy a replacement from Overclockers and make it fit inside this silly HP case.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
