I have recently acquired an HP Pavilion (a1228.uk) system:

P4 - 3ghz cpu
1 gig PC3200 ram

But only onboard graphics. I'd like to upgrade the graphics but as the psu is only 300watts then I expect my options are limited?

It will be used for very basic photo editing, watching dvds (HD if poss) and smurfing.

I coud replace the psu but is there anything unique about these Pavilion systems that I should know?

Many thanks. This is a very useful board.

Hi,
According to the HP website your board has a PCI Express slot:

I personaly would look at the Nvidia 8600 series or the ATI 3400 / 3600 series, make sure the one you chooose is HDCP compliant.

Not sure how your system will cope with HD though.

PS: Whats smurfing :eek::p

Actually, I'll have an X1650pro 512mb DDR2 soon. Do you think that would be ok?

Thanks for your reply. Everybody says surfing so thought I'd be different :p
