Hard drive failure on an HP Pavilion laptop (DV6-2117SA). Replaced drive. Installing Windows 7 Home Premium x64, just after clicking "Install Now", I get the following:
"A required CD/dvd drive device driver is missing."
I assume this is because the CD drive is SATA? (PS. Some internet reading said this could be down to dodgy install media - I've tried 2 different ISOs). Anyway, head to HP Support, chose W7 x64, Software, then Drivers - Storage. The only relevant thing is Intel Matrix Storage Manager (ver. 8.9.4.1004 C). However, it's in an .exe and I need the .zip so I can dump the drivers on the USB stick.
Tried to find equivalent at Intel Site but none of the ones I have tried work. For example, in f6flpy6488.zip, several are picked up by the W7 installer as "compatible", but when choosing them and clicking proceed, I just get:
"No new devices could be found. Make sure the driver files are correct and located on the driver installation media".
Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?!
