HP Pre 3 released

some say unlimited *

*pathetic amount

ive got 500mb per month on my 5800 nokia, and thats fine... but i hardly use it

but 500mb is probably what my family uses in a average day. and when i watched nascar racebuddy, that was about 6gig for the race :o

Well usually 500MB is fine, but i only really use it for browsing (and often 2G at that) and weather, but when i hit Youtube and iPlayer i can easily go through 150MB in a day.

And pushing the thread back onto the Pre 3, this link is from the site that originally linked all the locations in the UK you could order a Touchpad at reduced prices. Not much on the Pre 3 yet, but it's probably the best place for info when it's available.

http://www.techfruit.com/2011/08/23/hp-pre-3-firesale/

p.s. Only 9 years, 4 months and 10 days of posting at this rate until I get access to the MM....

And what's the FUP? There was a massive thing on here when they tried to change existing contracts, but they decided not to - as i remember they wouldn't let you renew that contract when it ended though, mine goes to February i think.

3gb mate
I have had a text from T-Mobile indicating that I was close to exceeding this one month. That was it. I honestly cannot complain about their data restrictions at all.

Sorry for moving away from the original point, I just feel this is relevant info foranyone wanting or considering renewing their contract!

...so where can I get a pre? ;)

No it's not. In the future I will not sign any tariff that does not include an unlimited (albeit with a 3gb fair usage policy) Internet usage.

I take it you've never had the need to tether something on your laptop? Well I have. Having the ability to be in a remote location and tether Sky Sports ( 1 live football game ) on your laptop from your 3G connection on your phone is priceless. This exceeds 500MB.

Going away for the weekend with no internet connection? Tethering yet again could be a major requirement.

Being able to stream all those youtube videos your friends post on Facebook without worrying - You'll need more than 500MB.
I'm not sure why you clearly didn't bother to read my post before replying, because I quite clearly included tethering as something I use it for. If you're going to use it to watch video on a regular basis then that is obviously going to push you over any caps, but seriously you can go a weekend without watching sky or youtube. As long as you're sensible with you're data use on 500MB you need nether consider the cap.

I apologise. I should have made it more clear that I was referencing to more than just "internet browsing" when I made a reference towards tethering. I thought I did by pointing out the fact that I was referring to media streaming over any other kind of browsing. Saying that though, spend 30 minutes browsing deviantart while tethering, I guarantee that 500mb limit of yours will be close to its limit.

Oh and did you just say "go a weekend without watching sky"? You're not one of these guys who don't like football are you :-P

Update:

My phones (one for me and one for my wife) have arrived from CPW, bought sim free at full £479 price. I am not going to even open the carriers packaging until I find out what is going on over the next couple weeks.

I am starting to think that they are going to just be complete jerks about the whole thing and I will end up returning them for a full refund in 13 days. We'll see how it all plays out. I wonder what the deal is with the accessory bundles that were announced? Anyone got any news in that front?

They'll probably recirculate them into contract phones within a day of returning. :/

Tmobile have 4 data plans for handsets.

Normal 500mb for plans under £25
Unlimited excluding tethering, voip and p2p for plans over £25.
Mobile Broadband Plus, 3gb for everything except voip and p2p, +£12 on your plan
Mobile Broadband max, 10gb for everything, +£20 on your plan

I have the Max plan and use about 6-7gb pm on a E71. I dont watch videos or p2p ect. Depends on your needs, i work on the road and listen to a lot of podcasts.

By the way, if you get the Pre through mobiles make sure to use quidco as you'll get a further £30 cashback.

Can't see you getting anywhere, CPW have gone into profiteering mode on these phones and are hoping to cash in on the hype.

I really can't see why people are buying these phones on contract, it's got the equivalent of Galaxy S 1 hardware (cpu a bit better), chances of OS updates are low and the apps store is dead, seems a bum deal to me.

There was an update only recently and Quick Office is getting a major update in the next couple of days. HP are actively meeting with devs to assure them the app store is very much still alive - its probably posting its highest sales at the moment!

In case you missed it over at Precentral

IMPORTANT:

To all those who ordered on the PalmEurostore website and/or still want a Pre3:

The co-founder of Luzern Solutions (Patrick Sherlock), the company running the Palm EuroStore, asked me to tell you this:

He can help you with the ordering process. Also, due to cancellations, free stock might be re-allocated!!! That means you might get a chance to grab a Pre3!

Step 1: Follow @PSherlock on twitter!

Step 2: Contact him via "@" and tell him your order number and "Accept" if you accept the offer or "Cancel" if you want to cancel it. Please note that there is NO price reduction because of HP. Also, please show some patience! There might not be an immediate response as he is going through the list in sequence!

Step 3: Do what he says

-------------------------------

Update 1:

If you have an order number BEFORE "1307800" and want to accept the deal (Pre3, no bundle, no price cut), please send your order number and "Accept" to Mr. Sherlock via Twitter (@PSherlock). This will allow them to ship your Pre3 on Monday = expected delivery via DHL 24h on Tuesday.

Any cancellations of an order before that number will release stock for the subsequent order numbers!!!

The guys at Eurostore tried everything to convince HP to allow them to reduce the price or bundle the Pre3 with accessories. This also caused the delay in the order processing and the backlog they are working through now, I assume. However, HP refused to allow that. So I don't blame them.
