HP printer drivers

I have just inherited an old HP Laserjet 1005 printer and cannot get the thing to print at all. I can't find any mac drivers for this printer on the HP website, they seem to only support newer models.

I have noticed something called gutenprint that seems to provide drivers that apple use for other printers, is this something that might work? Afraid I am not very experienced with all this sort of thing. Any help much appreciated.

^^ nice one! As i was going to say it should be out there as pretty much every hp printer iv ever owned has had both mac and linux support as standard *hugs hp printer....*

the link there is actually for a different printer - the P1005, not the laserjet 1005. I have now actually got another printer, the HP laserjet 1020 and have got it working using open source foo2zjs drivers.
